Every relationship faces challenges. Over time, stress, parenting, work demands, life transitions, or past hurts can create distance between partners. You may find yourselves having the same arguments, avoiding difficult conversations, or wondering how you became so disconnected.
The good news is that relationships can heal. Couples counseling provides a safe, supportive environment where both partners can feel heard, understand unhealthy patterns, improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their connection. Whether you've been together for a few years or several decades, seeking support is a sign of commitment to your relationship—not failure.
Healthy relationships require attention, communication, and a willingness to grow together. Couples counseling helps you recognize the patterns that keep you feeling stuck, improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen your connection.
Couples counseling isn't about deciding who is right or wrong. Your therapist works with both partners to better understand one another, improve communication, resolve conflict more effectively, and develop practical strategies that support lasting change.
Beginning couples counseling can feel intimidating. Many couples worry they'll be blamed, judged, or asked to choose sides. Our goal is to create a supportive, balanced environment where both partners feel heard, respected, and understood.

Couples typically begin by meeting with the therapist together for one or more sessions. The therapist may then meet individually with each partner to better understand their perspectives, relationship history, and goals for counseling. After the initial assessment process, sessions generally continue with both partners together. Your therapist will explain the recommended structure based on your relationship and treatment needs.

Couples seek counseling for many reasons, including communication difficulties, conflict, trust concerns, infidelity, parenting challenges, intimacy concerns, life transitions, and emotional disconnection. Therapy can also help couples strengthen an already healthy relationship.
The length and frequency of sessions depend on your needs and treatment goals. Your therapist will discuss recommendations during your initial appointment.
True couples counseling focuses on the relationship as the client rather than one individual. Because of this, it is generally not a covered benefit under health insurance plans, including most commercial insurance and Medicare.
When one partner is receiving treatment for a diagnosed mental health condition and involving their partner is clinically appropriate as part of that individual's treatment, insurance may cover family-assisted psychotherapy under certain circumstances. This is a different service than traditional couples counseling.
We believe it's important for clients to understand these distinctions before beginning treatment so there are no surprises regarding fees or insurance coverage.
Our administrative team is happy to explain these differences, discuss fees, and answer questions before you schedule your first appointment.
No. We do not use artificial intelligence (AI) to record or transcribe therapy sessions, and we will never ask you to consent to AI transcription as a condition of receiving care. We believe protecting your privacy and confidentiality is fundamental to building trust. Your therapy sessions remain between you and your clinician.
